QPR vs Nottingham Forest Match Report

On the 22nd August 2009 Qpr faced Nottingham Forest with both teams still waiting for their first win of the season.

After Bringing in 10 new faces, including former R's Dexter Blackstock and Lee Camp, high expectations are on the shoulders of Boss Billy Davies this season. Although QPR have brought in four players this summer, including the £3.5 million Alejandro Faurlin, Many R's fans will be expecting a promotion push, and with the impatient Flavio Briatore as owner, Jim Magilton will be under mass pressure to succeed with Flavio's history of sacking managers. Unfortunately both teams had not won in their opening three games, and with both teams desperately needing to find a first win, this was a highly anticipated game for both sets of fans.

Nottingham Forest boss started Lee Camp in goal, but Dexter Blackstock started on the bench.

Here is the official Nottingham Forest starting line up:

Nottingham Forest: Camp, Chambers, Morgan, Adebola, Garner, Cohen, Gunter, McGoldrick, McKenna, Majewski, Lynch.

Subs: Anderson, Earnshaw, Tyson, McCleary, Davies, Smith, Blackstock.

Qpr Boss Jim Magilton handed a home debut to Alejandro Faurlin and gave Italian striker Alessandro Pellicori a first league start. Many fans were outraged at the fact that Kaspars Gorkks and Matt Connolly did not start.

Here is the official Queens Park Rangers starting line up:

QPR: Cerny, Ramage, Stewart, Hall, Leigertwood, Routledge, Helguson, Pellicori, Faurlin, Borrowdale, Taarabt.

Subs: Mahon, Vine, Buzsaky, Agyemang, Gorkss, Connolly, Heaton.

After a lively start by a very attacking minded Nottingham Forest team, a brilliant pass went straight through Rangers defence and went straight to Polish international Radoslaw Majewski, his shot was palmed away by keeper Radek Cerny, straight to the feet of Joe Garner, who hit a low powerful shot but it was remarkably save from the Czech keeper.

After that scare Rangers bounced back, with a brilliant long ball by Faurlin which landed to Icelandic international Heidar Helguson who layed it off to Tottenham loanee Adel Taarabt who put it wide.

On the 25th minute, Mikele Leighterwood cut in after a throw in and hit a stunning 25 yard strike into the top corner, leaving Lee Camp with no chance.

Radoslaw Majewski was at the centre of attention again but now he was standing over a free kick, disputably given after a "foul" on Dele Adebola. After the referee sees this one he might be glad that Majewski didn't score.

HALF TIME: QPR 1 - 0 Nottingham Forest

Only one half time change, Jim Magilton brought on Kaspars Gorkks for Fitz hall, who arguably should of started.

After a very negative period for the R', Nottingham Forest made their breakthrough on the 57th minute after a long ball from Lee Camp was headed down by Dele Adebola and Finished by David Mcgoldrick. Magilton responded by bringing on Vine for Pellicori.

Vine made an instant impact , after Helguson passed the ball to him, but Vine drilled the ball into the arms of Lee Camp.

Akos Buzsaky was brought on for Adel Taarabt, to the dismay of some fans who decided to boo the decision.

On the 73rd minute Dexter Blackstock was brought on for Dele Adebola, and was given a good reception by QPR fans, even though some "fans" decided to boo.

An unusually quiet Akos Buzsaky lined up a free kick and curled it towards the bottom corner, even though it was saved comfortably by Camp.

Blackstock was in the action soon after, Paul Mckenna passed to Dexter Blackstock who toe-poked the ball at Radek Cerny, but as the ball bobbled back, Peter Ramage Acrebatically got the ball off the line.

The last opportunity fell to Heider Helguson, after a cross from Buzsaky he had a free header which he put over.

Full Time

1-1 After a lively encounter, both teams still looking for a win, only Billy Davies happy, as Jim Magilton described it as "Rangers worst performance yet".
